Then directly today join me to get understanding one of the best animal Available in Udzungwa National Park which Called the "RED COLOBUS"
INTRODUCTION
As I mentioned earlier that these animals are only a concern here in the country then it is clear that they need a lot of care to save their lives. Before we begin to analyze the red colobus of Udzungwa National Park let us remember that there are many varieties of RED COLOBUS, but only three species are found here in Tanzania and all of them do not different in some characteristics but also in the areas where they are found.
These types of Red Colobus are like titles
1. Udzungwa Red Colobus
2. Zanzibar Red Colobus
3. Eastern Red Colobus
Now let's us know well Red Colobus from Udzungwa National Park Which Located In Tanzania Africa
FACTORS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF RED COLOBUS
1. The hair on the scalp has a crown-like shape with a reddish tinge.
2. The upper part of their body has black feathers on the underside with white feathers.
3. They have white fur on their cheeks.
4.The shoulders do not have big toes, but they have long, strong toes that hold them firmly in place when jumping. And the lack of thumbs is the origin of the word colobus from Greek translations.
5. The arms and thighs of the reddish-brown shoulder are usually black especially on the outside, but on the inside and a little higher the feathers are silver-colored matching black.
6. They have white tails on the bottom and black or yellow matching black on the top.
7. They are more able to see during the day than at night.
. But they have often been seen in a group of 24 males. Within one group there are several subdivisions that are led by one male or another two males.
9. When they see the enemy then they give information through different voices. These sounds are different, the sound coming from the enemy is down is different from the sound coming from when their enemy is up.
LENGTH AND WEIGHT OF RED COLOBUS
There is a slight difference between a man and a woman, especially when we look at things like weight and height.
Male Red Colobus
Weight = 9–13 kilograms.
Height = head and torso are 46–70 cm, tail 55-80 cm.
Female Red Colobus
Weight = 7–9 kilograms.
Height = head and torso are 47-62 centimeters, tail 42-80sm.
ENVIRONMENT AND LOCATIONS AVAILABLE RED COLOBUS
These beetles are particularly favored by forested areas with areas of original and secondary forests and lowland and highland areas. The forests where these Colobus are found are located at an altitude of 250–2,200 meters above sea level.
Areas of grassland in Magombero Forest Reserve, Seluu Game Reserve, Udzungwa Mountains National Park and Dabaga / Ulangambi Forest Reserve. And some other small areas surround those areas with the Udzungwa Mountains National Park leading in having the largest number of these colobus.
Note: that all the areas mentioned above are collectively called the Udzungwa Mountains.
GROWTH OF RED COLOBUS
These colobus' main food is tree leaves. But there are times when they eat flowers and even some of the fruit found in the forest. Research also shows that red colobus tend to eat up to certain fungal species.
BIRTH OF RED COLOBUS
Red Colobus live by mistake and as we have seen above that each group has a few small ones in it that will be ruled by one or two males.
Immediately after conception, the female becomes pregnant for six (6) months and there after gives birth to only one child. The mother protects her baby and stays close to her whenever she goes and often carries her baby in her womb.
The mother stays and protects her baby with great care and this takes about three months to start looking for food on her own even though she is still under the mother's care.
Collectively reddish-brown males reach the point of reproduction when they reach the age of 4 and sometimes males go up to four and a half years.
STORAGE OF RED COLOBUS
The Udzungwa red colobus is an animal that suffers a lot of problems mainly due to the environment in which it lives.
Due to the number of these species, it has led the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to keep these species in danger of extinction.
Figures from 2001 showed that the number of these animals was 1,000 but still5 and controversial as this number seemed to be large as the breeding rate of animals is very low. This controversy came to light in 1982 when the number of these seeds was 10,000. But the reproduction of these seeds at the same time is born 2,000 seeds and some of them die.
ENEMIES AND THREATS FOR THE RED COLOBUS
The main enemies of these colobus are chimpanzees as they hunt their prey in groups until they catch them. Although there is another enemy that is a bird known as an eagle but it is very rarely co-operative until an eagle kills a bear.
The biggest threat to the red-tailed colobus is the enormous environmental impact, especially due to deforestation, expansion of agricultural land, charcoal burning, transport congestion such as the Tazara railway has led to widespread displacement.
... Humans have not been left behind as it has been reported that they also hunt these deer as a habitat and lead them to send large numbers of animals.
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP THE RED COLOBUS
Since we have seen a major problem leading to the planting of these seeds then there is a need to implement the words
(a) To increase the boundaries and size of forests especially those bordering the Udzungwa Mountains National Park to restore the status of these forests. These forests are similar to those found west of Kilombero which are Ndundulu, Nyumbanitu, Ukami and iyondo as well as Udzungwa, Matundu and Nyanganje.
(b) Expansion of Forest Reserve areas which also borders the Seluu Game Reserve as these areas have adequate protection to protect these plants. Some of the forests that have been added to the areas include Magombera, Ibiki and other forests along the Msolwa River.
(c) Combating and eradicating forest fires mainly caused by expansion of agricultural areas as it has greatly led to the deforestation environment. People have been arbitrarily burning forests to keep agricultural land at the peak of the growing season no matter what the impact of the expansion of the fields on other species found in those areas.
(d) Government through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism to various authorities and authorities under the ministry such as TANAPA on the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, TAWA on the Seluu Game Reserve, TFS on the Forest Reserve to establish . a wildlife review that connects one Forest with another so that no seeds can be placed in more places. This will lead to even faster reproduction as they will have a larger scattering area. (7) Effective management of wildlife laws as well as forest laws especially in terms of poaching in order to effect poaching on these species. Poaching is a problem that has greatly hindered conservation activities.
CONCLUSION
The Udzungwa Redeemer is a species of zebra found only in the Udzungwa mountain range and can not be found anywhere in the world. This is a source of pride because people come from all over the world and come here to find out what the red colobus is like.
Challenges of environmental degradation and poaching as well as deforestation and respect for dignity, all of which together if not addressed early then these colobus will remain the only history of their existence here in Tanzania.
I would like to congratulate TANAPA for the great work they are doing at the Udzungwa Mountains National Park as they definitely need these compliments. If you look at all the places where the red dwarf seeds are found, you will see that a large number of these colobus are found in the Udzungwa Mountains National Park. This is due to the efficient use and implementation of animal and environmental conservation responsibilities in general.
Other authorities including TAWA and TFS should set a good example for TANAPA to achieve these positive results as it is a benefit to the nation and especially due to the contribution of natural resources to national outcomes as a whole.
